At Watches Wonders 2023, Grand Seiko unveiled an evolution of its 44GS design, the Hi-Beat 36000 and Hi-Beat 36000 GMT, with five models featuring the brand’s latest alloy: Ever-Brilliant Steel. All watches feature Shizukuishi’s iconic dial: Mount Iwate. Today, the brand releases a special edition exclusive to its online boutique – the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection Mechanical Hi-Beat 36000 Ref. SBGH345.
First launched in 1967 and reinterpreted since 2014, the 44GS is undoubtedly one of Grand Seiko’s most iconic designs. Watches with this design are now included in the brand’s Heritage Collection, which brings together a selection of classic watches that reproduce the design and style of the earliest Grand Seiko timepieces and embody the unique Japanese Grand Seiko aesthetics. and delivers simple perfection in performance and finish. Grand Seiko has always been famous for this.
This new version features a 44GS design in a 40mm case made of Ever-Brilliant steel, an alloy that stands out for its improved durability and unique appearance. As the name suggests, this special alloy shines with a bright white hue that enhances the beauty of the 44GS's carefully Zaratsu polished flat surfaces, completing the Grand Seiko style goals.
Grand Seiko SBGH345 adorns Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi’s iconic dial, recalling the ridge of Mount Iwate, which stands proudly near our watchmaking factory. This version features a red hue that's reminiscent of a sunrise over a hillside.
As can be seen from the markings on the dial, this watch is equipped with Hi-Beat 36000 9S85 movement and has a comfortable power reserve of 55 hours.
